ISO: 400
Aperture: f/2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/500
In this assignment, I had to capture motion. I used different shutter speeds and apertures to get the desired effect, and overall I think the assignment went pretty well.

Photo assignment #6
Aperture: 2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/60
For this assignment, I choose to do product. I had to show a product that would be sold in some kind of store. I choose to take pictures of my guitar and bass, because I thought it best showed the idea of product.

GIMP assignment 5
This was the most fun GIMP assignment we've had. We were supposed to take a photo of the school and make it as unrealistic as possible. I used GIMP and multiple images from the internet to make it look like Godzilla was attacking the school and chasing Ben.

Photo assignment #5
ISO: 80
Aperture: 3.2
Shutter Speed: 1/250
This week I went to the Michigan-Illinois football game at Michigan Stadium. For this set of pictures I tried to get the full experience of a game, the band, the crowd, the stadium, and the players. I feel I successfully captured the experience of a football game at Michigan Stadium.

Portrait Demo
For this assignment we had to take two portrait photos in the studio and using a light bounce card. In the studio we used a key light, the big one that shines directly on the subject, the hair light, the light above the subject, a background light, one behind the sheet, and a filter light, one off to the side through a filter. The light bounce card was where we had the subject stand near a window and used a reflective card to bounce the light onto the other side of their face. Then we put the pictures into GIMP, and cropped and edited them slightly. Then we put them onto a black background and fitted a white border behind them. This is the final product of all our work.

Black and White
ISO: 160
Aperture: f/2.8
Shutter Speed: 1/20
This week I did Black and White photography. I found objects that I thought contrasted well and then turned them into black and white in photoshop. I choose this picture because I thought the tree and the light balanced well and I took it on Halloween night and it has a little bit of Halloween creepiness.

Gimp Panoramic
This was by far the most frustrating project we have done. We had to take three different pictures and use gimp to combine the three into one. We used gimp to move the layers together, then we erased the seams and little details, we also used the scale tool to make sure everything was perfectly lined up. It was painstakingly long and annoying. In summary, I don't like doing panoramic.

Assignment #3: Light Painting
Shutter Speed: 15 sec
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 80
For this assignment we learned how to use light painting. Light painting is a form of photography where the shutter speed is very slow, and the aperture is somewhat closed. Then picture is taken in the dark, with a light source making some sort of image or design, because the shutter is letting so much light in fifteen seconds, all the light is captured in the photo. For this picture I used a strobe effect on my flashlight and held the light to my face, then I moved slowly side to side and downwards. The strobe effect made a string of my face moving downwards. Light Painting is a very fun a different way to take photos and should be used more.

Car Gimp assignment
Over the past two days I have learned how to use GIMP's editing uses on Noelle's picture of this car. I learned how to select certain areas to color them in, and add layers to a selected area. I also learned how to use the clone tool to fix discolorations in a image. This picture has become much less distracting since I removed the background from the image.

Architecture Assignment
For this assignment I had to find examples of Architecture in the world and take pictures of them. I took many pictures of buildings around Saline. All of these buildings have a variety of unique architectural structures, and we should be more aware of the beautiful buildings we have in Saline.

Composition Assignment
Assignment Description: We learned about the 11 different elements of composition in our digital photography class. After learning about the elements we were sent off into the school and outside the school to find and take pictures of the elements. We then put all of our pictures into photoshop.com and took the best 11 pictures to put in this blog.
Photo description:
1. Depth of Field = Saline All State Wall
2. Symmetry = Lines on car window
3. Lines = Stair railing
4. Rule of thirds = Cat
5. Texture = Clovers
6. Balance = Chairs and stairs
7. Space = American Flag
8. Color = Bus and stop sign
9. Framing = Chairs between railing
10. Perspective = Ben on football field
11. Pattern = floor tiles
I learned that the 11 elements of composition can be used to take very interesting pictures, and can make photos more interesting. I'll be more focused on using theses elements in pictures more often now.
